The Systemic Lupus Erythematosus Latex Test provides a suspension of polystyrene latex particles which have been coated with deoxyribonucleoprotein. The antinuclear antibodies produced in systemic lupus erythematosus bind to the DNP coating the latex particles. This binding is evident by rapid agglutination of the latex.
