Linvatec, headquartered in Largo, FL, is at the forefront of technology for a growing range of least-invasive and orthopaedic surgery procedures. Orthopaedic surgeons use Linvatec arthroscopic instruments for diagnostic purposes, for minor surgeries and complex reconstructions of knees, shoulders and small joints such as the wrist and ankle. Linvatec's Hall® Surgical line of power surgical instruments are used for oral/maxillofacial, otolaryngology, hand surgery, podiatry, thoracic surgery, and neurosurgery. Additionally, many procedures are supported by a variety of endoscopic and fiber optic products also made at Linvatec. Imaging instruments, including cameras, video monitors and VCRs, are manufactured at the Linvatec Imaging Systems division, located in Santa Barbara, California.
Linvatec's focus on arthroscopic medical devices is a prime example of its concern for cost-effective measures that can be passed on to patients all over the world. Traditional open knee surgery, for example, can be costly and includes a hospital stay and follow-up care. The arthroscopic approach is less expensive and patients are able to return to work in a matter of days, rather than weeks. More than 80 percent of all arthroscopic procedures are performed on an outpatient basis. Additionally, arthroscopic procedures are less traumatic to the patient and less painful. Because hospitalization and recovery time are decreased, costs are reduced.
Linvatec's research and development efforts are twofold: To develop new products for surgical procedures and to be at the forefront of technology as new procedures are introduced.
